And it wasn't even that bad. It was one of the better video game to movies movie.





I like this thread, but I think the conditions should be changed. Instead of worrying about money and such, just simply ask what original ideas people can come up with movies. I say this because people always complain that Hollywood just rehashes everything, and while that is true to an extent, those rehashes receive more press and media attention than original movies, so those original movies (that are always continuously released), are often forgotten or pushed under the radar.




In other words, people tend to complain about no original ideas, but don't suggest some of their own that could be pursued.

I'd make a movie adaptation of the Crystal cave following the books plot as closely as possible.

Are you implying that giving the opportunity for profit will cause everyone who answers the question in this forum to just pick what would make them the most money, regardless of how good it is?

The rest of my post backs up what I mostly meant.

but since you asked that question......There are two basic routes one can take for movie making:

Quality
Profit

I am okay with either one being produced. You can have both at once, and you also have neither. I have the understanding that, although we all want quality movies, the movie producing is a business revolving around money, just like all other businesses.


But that's only partially relevant to my post, I'm more interested in hearing original ideas from people, instead of remakes and content from material that already exists (even though that's an easier avenue to make money).

I designed the question to see how people's answers would balance those 2 routes. I'm still curious about your answer to my previous question.

I think the main problem with this thread is you have the option of choosing something that isn't 100% original. While many people have original ideas most of them are probably not developed enough to be comfortable making into a full movie which leaves preexisting things.

Not to mention the fan of X thing in most of us is strong enough to want to see X thing live action on the big screen.

I can't speak for what everyone would do.


Truthfully.....if I were given one chance, and it would mean going back to the job I had now right after, I would be completely selfish and maximize my revenue has michelle as possible.
