I'd put it in my top 5. Seasons 3-4 were damn near perfect. Season 2 was pretty damn good too. 1 and 5 were the weakest overall.
The show isn't for everyone though. It can be slow paced at times and a bit much with the huge cast and multiple storylines.
It's terrific, but #1 is just a stretch. I'd agree with top 5 and it's one of those ones that you have to watch if you love good television. Even though it's only one season, I still think True Detective Season 1 is my #1 all time, it was perfect from start to finish.
