I only watched the first season but I thought it was pretty good. I tried the prequel season but I couldn't get into it. The end of the first I felt had enough closure.

Yeah it did actually have a pretty climatic ending. but the other seasons are good as well. Not as good as the first, but still really good.

I loved Marcus Crassus' character though.

The actor for Marcus made me BELIEVE he was a roman. Fucking nailed it.
