As a book reader, I still like it a lot. Book readers get plenty of nods and inside jokes (good example: When Tyrion gets back after Battle of Blackwater, Cersei says she heard he lost his nose, which is what happens in the books).

Some changes I don't like and some changes I do. Tywin+Arya was absolutely marvelous in S2, aswell as Ramsay+Theon scenes in S3 (which happened in the background in the books).

Okay, but now that you mention Tywin & Arya, I can lead to a good example of what I'm talking about. A lot of only-viewers I know don't know who Roose Bolton is. For them he was just some bald guy in the background, and now he's the guy who stabbed Robb. I even know someone who said they couldn't remember who he was up until that point, wondering if he was a good guy or bad guy, and then thought "oh right, he's a bad guy because he stabbed Robb".

I know the show told us his name and sigil, but those were in passing. The books told us plenty of house names and sigils in passing, and I probably don't remember a lot of them, but that's okay because they're generally not important. The point in the books where Roose Bolton as a character was really fleshed out for me (and I'm sure for most others) was when Arya was forced to be his squire, and all the conversations she had with him, and leechings she had to do for him. Then it was significant to me when I learned that he killed Robb, and Tywin named him Warden of the North, because then I could attribute this new role to a well known fleshed out character, and not some random name that was mentioned in passing.

Because they had to fit Clash of Kings in ten episodes, and they had to keep giving Charles Dance some work so they could keep the actor around, they had no room to flesh out Roose Bolton. I don't even care if Arya escaped Harrenhall while Roose was holding it (as in the book), or while a castellan of Tywin was holding it, because even if they decided to go with the latter, as it just so happened in the show, they could have found another way to let us get to know Bolton, it didn't have to be the same as in the books, if only they had more time.

Tbh I liked S3 Roose quite a lot. I mean, seeing how time-constrained the adaptation of ASOS is, they did a fine job with Roose. The scenes with Jaime especially showed him very well.

The first episode starts off pretty damn brutal.. With some monster-like creatures slaughtering two men..

But that's it?
For 6 and a half episode now, I have yet to see one of these creatures again.
They keep speaking of the winter that's "comming" - but does it (and the creatures) ever arrive?

If you don't enjoy the different character plots and just want to see white walkers and action this series isn't for you.

This.
The white walkers are mostly back stories or in prologues.

I'm reading the Books for the story. Following the T.V. series for the boobs.

It was stated that the last two books will take us farther north than we've ever seen (Lands of Always Winter) and there will be a lot more white walker action. So, I expect we will see more walkers if the show follows suit. But yeah, it's not all about the action or one particular set of characters. It's about continuously developing and changing (often unexpectedly) plots and characters.

While there's not a lot of "white walker action", the white walker action that appears is pretty awesome. At around the beginning of book 3 we see quite a bit of it. It isn't exactly first hand, but rather an aftermath, with the events recounted in one character's PoV. But they're recounted so vividly and descriptively that it's a lot like reading those events first hand. So I consider it a big white walker action chapter.

Saying you "wouldn't recommend it" is just odd.

They have been saying winter is coming, for the past 3 seasons.. and still hasn't come. Were all the events in the span of a week or something? So Stupid.

WHite walkers are also easily the best part of the series.... they barely use them, that's dumb.

Also, all the important characters getting killed.. are so anti climactic...figure with such big important characters.. more would be done.. but it;'s about as climactic as a slave getting killed.

If you only like to see White Walkers and don't like seeing "important" characters die, then this is not for you. No honestly, you'll just get disappointed.
