AMC have announced The Walking Dead will get an expanded, 90-minute season premiere. The Season 2 premiere airs Sunday, October 16th on AMC at 9pm. they've also revealed the season will air in two halves. The first seven episodes will air over consecutive weeks through October and November. The show will then take a break through December and January, and episodes eight through thirteen will begin airing on February 12th at 9pm.

Could be a better idea to bridge the gap and not make it alsong as it was last time till the next season

I hate it when they stop tv shows for Christmas... I don't see why they don't just continue it, sure it may not get as many viewers but losing like 10-30% of the viewers isn't much... They can just put the episodes on again in febuary instead of halting it =[

Walking Dead Webseries Debuting Next Week

While we're very close to the October 16th season premiere of The Walking Dead, fans will have an earlier opportunity to see new material related to the series via a new Walking Dead webseries.
Quote

The webseries is a prequel of sorts, focusing on Hannah (Lilli Birdsell), known to fans as "Bicycle Girl," the legless zombie Rick Grimes encountered shortly after first waking up in the hospital in the show's first episode. Her name comes from her vicinity to the bicycle Rick took, of course - since, lacking any legs, she wasn't doing much riding herself. Per AMC, "Fans will learn about Hannah's life before the apocalypse, her struggle to survive and protect her family as the world begins to fall apart, and her ultimate demise into zombie-hood."

Interestingly, all six webisodes will debut simultaneously on Monday, October 3 at 2pm ET on amctv.com, rather than being spaced out over a few days.
