Was actually really good up until the last 10 minutes with the "Trinity is actually the one" bullshit. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ So fucking stupid. Identity politics is ruining so much tbh. Ruined WoT as well. So many recent sci-fi books I've read are steeped in it. Can we please go back to real stories where characters have their own merits based on what they do and who they are instead of their gender or race or sexual identity?

I liked it. Nothing will every be as good as the first movie. As in almost every case of sequels.

But for a reboot of a 20 year movie, this was refreshing. There’s some things I can nit pick about, but that doesn’t mean the movie wasn’t fun.

It’s probably the third best Matrix. Original, Reloaded, Resurrections

I don't think they were saying she was the one, but it was an extension of everything that led up to that.

Her love woke neo up and gave him his powers.
His love drove him to make the choice he did and save her by shoving his hand into her chest to remove the bullet and massage her heart, which had one hell of a light show when they showed the matrix code.
The machines rebuilt him, and rebuilt her and linked them together in the pod, when they got too close, shit went boom.
The mnemsyne operator even said their code was the same.
Also note that this version of smith was linked to neo with the analysts brainwashing, so he may become just as powerful.
So until they say otherwise, I think it was just showing the progression of things. The analyst done fucked up.

As for the movie, the fight scenes were kind of mediocre compared to the previous ones, nothing memorable with them. Though the swarms were cool.
The musical score didn't have the same oomph as the previous ones either.
But other than that, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I liked that they took the matrix online and built upon it.

He didn't say their codes were the same, he said the way they worked looked the same. As in their original code peaking out of the overlaid code every once in a while. Which was the argument that they were trying to use to say they shouldn't save her, because her code is never breaking free on it's own. Which is also what happened with Neo and his code, hence "looked the same".

If they want to do a 5th movie, which it looks like they do, then giving the characters a power up will only lead to what the Matrix 2/3 turned into.

Matrix 1 was good because there were actual stakes, and Neo earned his power... But not until the end. 2+3 were nonsense and trash in part because they had a God character. This new one was really good because they depowered Neo.. Just to power up Trinity without her having earned it? It's just boring, bad writing, and going to make future films a mess if they happen.

If future films don't happen it's not as big of an issue, or if their powers are only that strong when they are together then that could also be a way to create tension, but they should've set that up if that was the case.

My expectations were impossibly low and they still managed to disappoint me.

FYI, called it weeks ago exactly how this was going to play out. We’ll have people blaming “SJW” narrative or “Identity Politics” and just ignoring that the film lacked any semblance of merit throughout. It was a bad movie through and through and ending with Trinity as the One or any of the other “SJW” content people are crying about had little to nothing to do with the rest of the film being trash.

I’m happy for the people that can find enjoyment in these things, but holy fuck I wish they’d leave franchises like this alone. Honestly, it should have ended after the first fucking movie. I’m cool with Animatrix, but everything else was trash.
