I liked it.

Actually thought it was better than the first, and there was one scene in particular where I actually laughed harder than I've laughed in any movie in about a decade. Not too shabby.

Found the first better, but this one was ok aswell.

Very meh. A lot of corny scenes.
After watching Infinity wars last week, this one just seems not exciting.

Hopefully this continues the trend of rated R super hero films. Please don't fuck it up Venom.

Doubtful. People will only hate it if it's bad. Superhero films get more slack than any other genre I've seen before.

Most of what Marvel churns out is 5-6/10 quality at best, but it constantly gets rated at 7.5-9.5. Venom will do well if it's not absolutely horrible. I my expectations have already dropped below my average abysmally low expectations with a superhero films. I hope I'm proven wrong. Tom Hardy is amazing, but this looks bad from what I've seen so far.

I have to disagree with basically this entire post.

I think non-mcu films don't get fairly judged.

MoS BvS and Suicide Squad weren't nearly as bad as everyone makes them out to be.

I do think the MCU IN MY OPINION gets better reviews than it should, but I'm also aware it is because they cater to the general public. So the average person thinks it's good, not because they are willing to let it slide, but because they are just surface level viewers.

Venom isn't MCU and won't have the same direction of those films. It does however have people like that guy in the venom thread last month who said the film is going to be trash no matter what because Spiderman isn't part of it.

So yeah, I'll stick with my original assessment of the situation. Unless the movie is legitimately 10/10 people will probably shit all over it because it is different than what they wanted.

We'll just have to wait and see.

You're right that movies outside MCU usually get graded more harshly, but their movies have been ass in comparison. MCU understands how to cater to it's audience, they know to include x amount of zippy one-liner jokes that get the cretins rolling in their seats, they keep things consistent and easy to stomach. DC has failed miserably with this, from switching directors mid film, hiring over the hill or bad actors (or using good actors and still getting bad performances from them, Leto) and then the CGI that just looks bad, which should never happen in these huge budget movies. Of those three you mentioned, I'd say they all fall in the 2.5-5.5 range. MoS being the least shitty one, and had MoS been MCU it would have got a 75+. The other two deserved to do poorly, they were just fucking awful and worse than 99% of what MCU has done and Justice League js right there with them.

Side note: People like that guy you mentioned need to just be ignored. You can't do anything about idiots but ignore them, and if the movie ends up being alright, people that stupid almost always change their opinion to go with the crowd, since that's just what idiots do.
