Rapp's show, Discovery, is the first series designed specifically for the new CBS streaming service. CBS understands that they are entering a pond in which Netflix is the big fish. Then, conveniently, these allegations come out and shut down production of one of Netflix's heavy hitters. Netflix has a lot of ads that feature this show, with Kevin Spacey's face displayed prominently. Now, Netflix has to scrap those ads and rebrand things.

Now, let me be clear. I'm not saying that these allegations are false. They are probably true. But even if they are, guilty people should still be entitled to a fair shake when they are accused of something. Instead, this whole situation wreaks of manipulative industry politics bullshit.

Maybe Spacey did something wrong. Alcohol can result in people making poor choices, even criminal ones. But Rapp shouldn't be immune from criticism just because of his claim to victim status. It should be ok to question his story and how he chose to handle it.

You, personally, might not mind being an Ebenezer Scrooge who has enough money to live how you want and not care about other people. And that's fine for you.

But for someone who put a lifetime worth of effort into his career, becoming a pariah in his social circle probably feels pretty bad (even if he doesn't have to worry where his next meal is going to come from, like some other people do).
