Lost (no joke... it was enthralling when I first got into watching a series for the first time through).

Those are my top series personally, rotate em around however.

I also enjoyed West Wing, The Newsroom, House of Cards, and Dexter. But not nearly as much as the others.

I went with newer shows but older

Seinfeld, still favourite show of all time.
That 70s show up till eric left and fez's character in my opinion went to shit.
Simpsons has a place in my heart despite not watching it in over 10 years.

Basically if you don't have GOT in your top 5 you need to rethink your life

You're specific top 5 is what appeals to you and GOT his a fantasy world era that not a lot of shows have done in a big way. There may be lots of crime genre shows that outdo got in story line and acting but people have different tastes.
