Donnie would have gotten destroyed. He isn't a force user, he just wishes he was.

i thought this initially but no, Donnies death was appropriate and didn't need to involve vader. We had the right amount of vader, the story wasn't about him.

Even in 4, 5, and 6, Vader doesn't intervene with many battles. He is more of the enforcer who invites himself in when entirely necessary, or when others are not getting the job done.

Well ya, story isn't about him after 3rd. Though they still have him fight obi again, Luke etc. Throughout rather than just getting the job done toying with randoms. 2minutes or less of scene owning some notable chars in rogue one won't make it his story imo.

But he didn't need to be in it at all (story wise) - His scene at the end was perfect. A good reminder to those who forgot how fucking legit he is and a nod to the opening scene of episode 4.

I loved it.

Thought it was slightly worse than Episode 7 but that isn't an insult since I think Ep 7 was great too.

Great nostalgia while also adding solid new characters to the Star Wars universe.

He didnt have to kill every single hero in rogue one lol, i think it woulda been the best opportunity to showcase himself to the rebels if he fought some of the notable chars and owned them with ease.
Since it's literally not too long after Vader got his new body after dueling Obi.
