Knowing that "Warcraft" is a thing is A LOT different than actually knowing anything about it.

This all started because I said how close the story sticks to the lore will matter only for fans, but the much bigger group of people aka the general public won't care about how faithful it is.

I don't know why people are trying to argue with me that people knowledgeable about the lore > the general movie watching public. It is obviously the reverse, I guess that just proves how dense some people on here are.

Yet, having some sort of familiarity of something, a game-to-movie in this case, can invite people to watch the movie.

I think we can all agree that they should've made a Diablo movie

I have said this as well.

If Blizzard needed a way to get their feet wet in the movie business, a Diablo movie would have been a much better way for that. The Diablo story is more linear, much more appropriate for the 2hr movie format. It would have given them an easy way to shed the "kiddiness" stigma of being a video game movie by being much more horror and gothic.

They did give the wanderer an actual name so this would be on the table.

........um

The basis of this topic was directed towards the success of the Warcraft movie for the chance of a continuation of the story.

Number of box office tickets sold is one of the contributing factors to its success.

So........think before you post such an idiotic comment like you did.

First of all the topic is about how the movie will be recieved, not about box office success(which you would have known if you read the op and not just the title). Secondly, even if you want to argue the topic title is ambiguous let's take a look at the quote that started our conversation.

Warcraft is much less widely known than the hobbit. The movie looks like it is following the storyline it should be and not changing Warcraft lore too much. How closely they stick to source material will decide how much Warcraft fans like it, the general public though... Who knows.

For the hobbit the general public were aware of the story already, so it is a lot different than Warcraft.

Then you tried to argue that a lot of people actually know Warcraft lore for some reason (which is fucking absurd). And now you are trying to change the conversation so you look less like a fool.

....again

Box office success IS A CONTRIBUING FACTOR IN CREATING SEQUELS........

People wanting to watch a movie is a contributing factor in creating sequels.

People having general knowledge of the existence of a game is a contributing factor of creating sequels.

Holy shit, you are fucking retarded.

You say a good chunk of people don't know the lore with no evidence....I say there's more than you think with no evidence. No reason to argue about that.
