I feel like the author hasn't the faintest idea what Deadpool source material is. He talks about what type of superhero Deadpool is, then seems to think it's bad that the movie would portray him to that effect.
"Unlike other superheroes, he is aware of the superhero genre and his place within it. Onscreen, he seems to know that he is a fictional character, or at least that he is starring in a movie. Frequently, he looks directly into the camera and talks. In one scene, he even moves the camera himself.
These are distancing strategies, and they make for a cold piece"
This "self-knowledge" is taken from the comics, which he appears to understand in one sentence, but then bashes the movie for using it in the next.
If he on the one hand acknowledges that a movie is playing at it's source material then criticizes it for doing that I don't think he understands what type of film this is lol.
Maybe it's just because I personally didn't expect it to be an amazing piece of cinematography with an exceptionally deep moving story coming from... Deadpool... but I think the writer of that article took it all COMPLETELY out of context lol.
