I have a feeling Marcus Kane specifically relinquished his title to separate himself and anyone who follows him from the new chancellors plans. I imagine he tries to warn the grounders before the attack, maybe get caught and held captive by the new chancellor... but either way his intentions seem to be the best and I hope he keeps his small group as the 13th tribe.

I like this show but all this having characters do things that are not in line with their character at all with no character development to explain why is dumb as fuck.

This. He has been on the ground for the whole show and knows what's going on and their making him look like a bitch by not even thinking things through because he blames himself.

I think Abby/Marcus/Lincoln/Octavia went and warned the army. I mean they were talking to them with a walkie talkie.

The way Marcus said to Bellamy "It's not too late", I think the army will kill or capture whoever attacks them in the next episode.

It feels really against his current character, it is almost like they got a writer from early season 1 who hasn't written for the show since and hasn't watched it or anything either.

You'd think the ark would have done a better job of teaching how to not be a giant cunt.

But in the previews you see all those bodies, maybe they are too late and get caught up in it.
