Nolan hasn't done a bad movie. Dark Knight Rises was not great but I don't see how you could possibly say that overall it was a bad movie. Definitely the low point in the trilogy for me but it was still enjoyable, Hardy was amazing as Bane, Levitt did a good job, Oldman and Cane are always good. 6.5 maybe 7/10 movie. Definitely felt let down in comparison to how good the Dark Knight was but honestly, how could you say it was awful?
Nolan is an amazing director, I don't know why anyone would disagree with that, just look at what he's done so far.
Memento - 8/10 movie, I really enjoyed it. Couple of things about it irritated me when I first saw it and still do but it was a good movie.
Insomnia - Entertaining movie, probably my least favorite of his.
Batman Begins - Ballsy move, taking up after the shit we'd had the past few movies and actually giving us something we could all get behind. Casting was great (besides Holmes, I hate her in everything) and he always gets exactly what he needs from everyone. Not to mention that he's the one who got Superhero movies going back to having a darkness to them. Marvel/DC characters are not one dimensional little perfect fuck-boys that Hollywood tried to make them in the start. I'm glad someone had the balls to do it right.
The Prestige - My favorite Nolan movie, doesn't need any explanation as to why.
The Dark Knight - This and Watchmen are without a doubt my two favorite superhero movies.
Inception - A lot of dumb people didn't understand it and a lot of elitist movie goers hated it because of it's simplicity. I thought it was right in the middle, it wasn't at all difficult to follow but it was imaginative and it was executed well. Great cast, phenomenal job by DiCaprio as always.
Dark Knight Rises - Just barely above Insomnia for me. The worst of the Batman movies and not a strong overall delivery, it was still entertaining and enjoyable. I'd really like to hear your thoughts on what made it garbage exactly.
Interstellar - I don't easily get choked up in movies, regardless of the content. It hit home with me. I do believe the world is dying and I though Nolan's take on our future was fascinating. Couple plot-holes but all around it was an enjoyable movie that had powerful delivery on everything. Also not sure how you could say this movie was actually bad. I could see you thinking it's overrated, which is fine, just bad is stretching helllllla deep lol.
Nobody is saying Nolan is a bad director.
He just not infallible and Interstellar was one of his weakest movies to date, imo. The ending made it pretty bad for me, tbh.
Also, nothing forces us to agree on this. You enjoyed it. Great. A couple of us didn't. That's just how it is.
