I think you misunderstood the connection. Its not the pet he's concerned about. The dog was the last remaining connection to his wife. Even if it was just the dog, One of my favorite scenes from red white and blue is the one where a complete psychopath explains his love for a cat. The things that man did to protect his new "cat" makes John wick look like Gandhi.

I liked this movie, but probably not as much as everyone else here. Exposition is standard in movies like this, and even makes these movies fun. This time however I felt like it was silly. They were a little ham fisted with it imo. Other than that it was a fun movie
