I don't get offended easily, if ever. I think the closest I've came to being something resembling offended was during "Inglorious Basterds," "Breakfast at Tiffany's," and "The Village." All were decent enough movies, but there were some things that could have been done differently.
What bothered me about IB was the revisionist history that WWII ended with Hitler being killed in a theater. For me, it took away from the sacrifices made by millions of Allied soldiers. Yes, it would have been nice to have Hitler assassinated. But it felt so comical it seemed like it was laughing in the face of every WWII veteran.
BaT would have been a great movie if it didn't have that ridiculous yellow face neighbor. It wasn't the racism that bothered me, rather it was offensive the director thought I would laugh at something so juvenile. Here we have this great script with fantastic actors, yet were going to make jokes dumber than YouTube comments. It was the equivalent to "HAHAHA BLACK PEOPLE LIKE WATERMELON AND GRAPE SODA AND FRIED CHICKEN HAHAAHA SO FUNNY!"
"The Village" had one of the worst attempts at portraying anything resembling Down's Syndrome I've ever seen in a movie. I'm convinced this was the inspiration for Tropic Thunder's "Never go full retard."
