You were into horror before horror knew it was horror. We get it.

The Guardian was the best horror movie ever. Kevin Costner haunted the waters. Saving people. That's what ghosts do.

I did my film appreciation paper on Spoorloos and The Vanishing. It was ten pages of pure awesome. The vanishing was my favorite movie until I saw Spoorloos. It's a shame they changed the ending because they didn't think Americans could handle or appreciate it.

It's bad enough he's completely off topic, but this guy thinks he's the only one who's seen those movies lol.

I like how you go all elitist and then name the two most famous shock flicks out there...

Maybe I'm a wimp, but that scene where she sticks those needles in his stomach still makes me cringe. The stomach is the worst place to be stabbed or shot. :(

Spoorloos was a novel I read in high school. Pretty scary. Haven't seen the movie yet, I'll put it on my to watch list.

Great, didn't know it's based on novel, hoping to get chance to read it sometime.

Ten pages? Neat, I wish I could write so well too : p. Extremely rare to see existential sociopath as the killer, so it's quite something that this is to our good fortude crafted to perfection. Indeed about the ending.
If you are interested in atmospheric psychological horror, you might enjoy In a Glass Cage, Funny Games (1997 > Shot to Shot remake(!)) and Caché too (though you have probably seen these already).

The novel is called Het Gouden Ei (The Golden Egg) in Dutch, but is called The Vanishing in English (novel was translated after the English movie remake). http://www.amazon.com/Vanishing-Tim-Krabb%C3%A9/dp/0747565333/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1367188027&sr=1-2 Written by Tim Krabbé, a decent author.

A few other great Dutch films are Soldier of Orange (Rutger Hauer at his best imo), The Assault (novel adaptation, Harry Mulisch was the writer) and Character (again a novel adaptation)

Not seen many Dutch films if I'm honest, however I have seen black book - and though it's not a horror (the war was horrible) its still a really good flic

I'm going to check out soldier of orange though, thanks.

To come think of it The Golden Egg sounds familiar, just forgot about it. Out of Verhoevens Hauer films I actually prefer Turkish Delight over Soldier of Orange but like both. Never heard of De aanslag or Karakter, found them on torrents, cheers.

Another nice dutch films imo: De noorderlingen and Code Blue.
