exactly. Those 2 have to be done simultaneously. After Season 4 gets a jump on those stories, it will probably take Season 5+6 to finish them off. That will mean they have to start producing Season 7 in 2016. Hopefully the book for that will be ready in time for them to start preparing.


They've already announced that book 3 will be split into two seasons.

IMO I think season 3 will probably end after the Red Wedding.

Seaosn 2 already included part of Book 3. If Season 3 ends after RW (which sounds about right), that will leave Season 4 as the third season to have pieces of Book 3 in it. I also think Season 4 will start to get into the Book 4/5 stories.

To simply say "Book 3 is split into 2 season" is an incorrect oversimplification of how it is breaking down.
