is this show worth watching? I've heard good things and bad things about it

If you are looking for lots of zombie-killing, then no. If you are looking for a drama, it is one of the best.

If you look forward to every Michael Bay film that hits theaters, then Walking Dead is probably not for you. If you think typical action movies are inane garbage and prefer things that actually have thought involved, Walking Dead might be for you.

And you thought darryl couldn't be more bad ass?

Promo image for season 4.

Also, some leaked pictures of Rick. If you read the comic, you'll understand the significance of these photos.
While the order of events has changed a little, they tend to stick in the same direction. Either he just injured it or it's a significant moment from the comic.

are the lawn chairs from people in the series, or is that the film crew in the background?

Hard to tell, maybe the film crew. Here's a better picture.

Kirkland said he regretted that particular plot point that I'm talking about, however it still is a interesting look. He may have downgraded the injury or it may be completely unrelated.

Pretty sure they already said the "injury" is not going to happen.

No, kirkman(damn autocorrect said kirkland) said they shouldn't and that he regretted the decision in the comic, but that does not mean it's not going to happen or can't happen.
Especially with him hinting that Rick could die for season 4 and saying that Rick isn't safe. While he could be trying to rile up the fans, there is nothing preventing him from taking that particular route.

Really hope this season is better.

Season 1 & 2 were fucking amazing, 3 was such a let down to me.
