I thought it showed that the huge organized military of the First Order can be beat. The biggest legend in the galaxy just called the First Order bitches right to their face and ended up making them look really weak. It really isn't about loyalty but inspiration to stand up and fight. The man who defeated the Empire gave his life for the Resistance with the whole galaxy watching.
I totally get where you're coming from, and that's clearly what they're going for, but I just don't see it man. I just can't see how anyone could hear this news and be excited about it. Everything about how it was handled would be viewed as a negative from an outside perspective, at least it would imo. Did you hear? Luke Skywalker came back and stood up to the entire First Order! OH WHAT! Luke is back? Well, no, he died, and 2/3 of the rebellion died, and the last 1/3 only escaped because Luke sacrificed himself so that they could. So, you're telling me that the Rebellion was so fucking useless, that Luke Skywalker had to show up himself and fight the entire army by himself, all so a measly third of the rebellion could escape, the same 1/3 of people who couldn't do anything to the First Order, when using a giant fucking fortress at their disposal?
I completely get where you're coming from, I get what they're going for, I just don't buy it, and I can't possibly imagine the oppressed and weak from around the entire galaxy rising up in defense of a rebellion that just got absolutely fucking demolished because of their own incompetence. You know how cynical I can be with this kind of shit lol. No matter what, I still liked the movie okay, but this was another one of those things that I felt was overly convenient, and not at all realistic of what would happen in reality.
