Tell me why would they not contract him in if they have intentions of bringing him back in a later season?

They should have seen this coming when casting for Morgan.

Because at the time they weren't even sure about the show itself, hence only 6 episodes for season 1. How should they have seen this coming?

I was pretty sure that i saw somewhere that the actor who played morgan was listed as part of the season 3 cast. Could have been bad info but i figured he would show up at some point in the second half of the season.

I see a few mentions that he'll appear for an episode for the second half (which I figured they would do if they could get him to. Also predicted it a long time ago) but I see no actual confirmation of it from a legitimate source. Only mention is from TVOvermind? (what the shit is that?) and nothing mentioned on the actual amc website or the IMDb site. Though strangely he's not showing up at all on the IMDb site even for his work in season 1.

I was pretty sure that IMDb is where i saw it at. Keep in mind i saw this back before S3 started so it has been awhile and im not 100% certain that is where i saw it. If it isnt there now though then who knows.

Other shows tend to take a week off here and there especially for major sporting events.

The reason they are doing it for The Walking Dead, I would assume it is for the NFL playoffs.

That would also explain why it comes back 1 week after the super bowl.

Mid season finales are not something new. A lot of networks take a break during the winter.
