Lionheart (1990)

Lionheart is classic Jean-Claude Van Damme: a mix of emotion, honor, and hard-hitting action. The story follows Lyon, a soldier who deserts the French Foreign Legion to help his late brother’s family, ending up fighting in underground matches to earn money. It’s simple, but it works — especially with Van Damme’s charm and stylish fight scenes. Sure, it’s a bit cheesy at times, but that’s part of the fun. Lionheart delivers heart, grit, and plenty of roundhouse kicks — a solid slice of early ’90s action.

6 Bullets (2012)

6 Bullets (2012) is a decent, if sometimes uneven, action film that sees Jean-Claude Van Damme stepping into the role of a grizzled ex-mercenary. He’s drawn back into the fray when a young girl is kidnapped, and he’s the only one with the skills to get her back. What sets this apart from Van Damme’s typical action fare is the darker, almost somber tone. There’s real emotional weight behind his character, Sam, who’s haunted by his past and more than just a tough guy on a mission.

While the pacing is slow to start, once the action kicks in, it’s a solid mix of martial arts and gritty stunts. The film doesn’t reinvent the genre, but it offers enough of what fans love about Van Damme—hard-hitting combat and an underdog hero with something to prove. Not a standout in his filmography, but still worth a watch for those who want a bit of extra depth with their action.

Overall Rating: 6.5/10
It’s not groundbreaking, but it hits the right notes for a solid action flick with a little more heart than expected.

Wild Card (2015)

Jason Statham does what he does best in Wild Card — being cool, calm, and ready to throw a punch. Set in the glitzy mess of Las Vegas, the movie follows a bodyguard with a gambling problem who gets tangled up in revenge and bad decisions. The action scenes hit hard, but the story drags in between, never quite finding its rhythm. It’s not Statham’s most exciting outing, but if you’re in the mood for something slick, moody, and a little rough around the edges, it’s worth a watch.

Avengement (2019)

Avengement is a gritty, hard-hitting action flick that surprises with how much heart it’s got. Scott Adkins nails it as a man twisted by betrayal and survival, bringing both emotion and serious fight skills to the screen. The brawls are raw, the story’s simple but powerful, and it never lets up. If you like your action movies rough around the edges and real, this one delivers big time.

Rating: 8/10 – Rough, real, and ridiculously satisfying.

12 Rounds 3: Lockdown (2015)

12 Rounds 3: Lockdown is a tense, straightforward action thriller that focuses on survival and corruption within the police force. Dean Ambrose delivers a convincing performance as Officer Carter, a man trapped in his own precinct after uncovering dirty secrets that put a target on his back. The film keeps the tension alive with tight pacing, confined settings, and plenty of close-quarters combat. Though the plot is predictable at times, its energy and simplicity make it an enjoyable ride for action fans looking for something fast and focused.

Operator (2015)

Operator (2015) is one of those under-the-radar indie gems that sneaks up on you. It blends tech anxiety with real human emotion in a surprisingly tender way. Mae Whitman and Martin Starr have a quirky, believable chemistry — she brings warmth and spontaneity, while he nails the awkward, analytical vibe of a guy trying to control life like an algorithm. It’s funny, a little sad, and quietly insightful about what happens when data tries to replace empathy. Think Her, but with more Wi-Fi glitches and emotional honesty.

Nowhere (2019)

Nowhere (2019) is a haunting and slow-burning psychological drama that blurs the line between isolation and inner collapse. With its minimalist setting and restrained performances, the film crafts an atmosphere of quiet unease rather than overt terror. Every frame feels deliberately uncomfortable, mirroring the protagonist’s descent into despair. While its pacing may test some viewers, the reward lies in its emotional rawness and visual poetry—a meditation on loneliness that lingers long after the credits roll.

Our Relations (1936)

Our Relations (1936) is a charming screwball comedy starring Laurel and Hardy. The film follows the duo as they are mistaken for their aristocratic twin brothers, leading to a series of hilarious mix-ups and misunderstandings. With classic slapstick humor and perfect comedic timing, the film showcases the duo's chemistry and knack for physical comedy. It's a lighthearted, entertaining romp that remains a standout in their filmography.

Rating: 8/10 – A delightful blend of humor and heart, though it’s more about the gags than deep plot. Still, it’s a fun watch for any fan of classic comedy.

Blood and Bone (2009)

This action-packed martial arts film hits fast and never wastes a moment. Michael Jai White delivers a commanding performance, blending quiet intensity with flawless fight choreography that feels both brutal and elegant. The underground-fight backdrop adds gritty tension, and the story—while straightforward—moves with confident momentum.

It doesn’t aim for complexity, but its sharp pacing, crisp action, and charismatic lead make it a surprisingly memorable entry in modern martial arts cinema.
