6 Bullets (2012)
6 Bullets (2012) is a decent, if sometimes uneven, action film that sees Jean-Claude Van Damme stepping into the role of a grizzled ex-mercenary. He’s drawn back into the fray when a young girl is kidnapped, and he’s the only one with the skills to get her back. What sets this apart from Van Damme’s typical action fare is the darker, almost somber tone. There’s real emotional weight behind his character, Sam, who’s haunted by his past and more than just a tough guy on a mission.
While the pacing is slow to start, once the action kicks in, it’s a solid mix of martial arts and gritty stunts. The film doesn’t reinvent the genre, but it offers enough of what fans love about Van Damme—hard-hitting combat and an underdog hero with something to prove. Not a standout in his filmography, but still worth a watch for those who want a bit of extra depth with their action.
Overall Rating: 6.5/10
It’s not groundbreaking, but it hits the right notes for a solid action flick with a little more heart than expected.
