Gladiator 2
This wasn’t the worst movie I’ve ever seen, or even bad really, but it feels like it missed so many opportunities. There was way too much that was very similar to the first without many new ideas, except Lucius is not Maximus and Mescal is fine, but he’s definitely not Russell Crowe. All the pivotal moments in the movie come out of nowhere and fall really flat. The only interesting character is macrinus but he’s criminally underdeveloped. he could have been an excellent sympathetic villain if they played their cards right, but they don’t.
There could have been something good here but there were just too many misses, it’s maybe like a 5/10. All of these ancient directors need to let it go because it’s embarrassing seeing them tainting their legacies like this
