I think the point of the scene was to highlight that Arya still has some inner conflict.
She looked uncomfortable when he said the line "mum said to be kind to strangers and they'll be kind to you"


She had assumed they would turn out to be a bunch of cunts who would attempt to fuck her over.. but turns out, they're just decent men carrying out orders (at the moment) - the guy who originally called her over seemed a little shady though.

Who knows, whole scene could just be pointless and irrelevant.. doubt it though, with the limited screen time each major character will get as they wrap this story up.. we have to assume every scene is important.. wouldn't waste airtime would they?

I don't know why people are so angry over that scene. I mean it's good to remember that normal people make up the majority of the world, even in the Lannister army. The show focuses so heavily on the crazy assholes, I found it a bit neat that they were like 'hey, not everyone is a giant cunt, the peasants are just trying to get by in the world". That is especially important because this session will most likely focus on the white walkers.

I'm not in touch with British culture and I don't know much about this Ed fellow, but it from the responses it seems like he's somewhat of a pop singer. If Justin Bieber had a cameo, many American viewers would go into that scene with a negative bias. Might be a similar situation with Ed.

It isn't just the British who are upset, everyone seems to be. And I mean really is it that big of a deal? More specifically why is this cameo a big deal? There have been a bunch of cameos on the show already, big shows always have them but this is the first time people seem genuinely upset. It is fucking absurd actually.

No one got upset over coldplay, or snow patrol or of monsters and men but everyone loses their shit over ed? Hell what about Ian McShane, he actively insulted GoT a few times, then was a main character for an entire episode and people loved it. Ed actually supposedly likes the show and he is getting dumped on. Like what the fuck is wrong with people.
