he was emotionally imbalanced
he has a very big ego
he took the saber duel challenge
if you don't like it then don't watch it again or the next ones because im sure that if you're nitpicking this much now, you will also later
save yourself the trouble
I'm not really nitpicking, I just provided a counter-argument to your own post.
He does have an ego, but why does that matter? He slams Rey into a tree, so he has no problem using the Force. If anything, I would expect him to use the Force on Fin too, just to show how much more powerful he is and how helpless Fin is. There is a much greater feeling of power in using supernatural abilities that your opponent can do absolutely nothing about, than fighting hand-to-hand like a pleb.
And obviously I'm not gonna watch it again, I've never in my life gone to a theater to watch the same movie twice. I don't even understand the point of it - you just watched the movie, you remember everything. I can just as easily "re-watch" it in my mind, I don't have Alzheimer's.
I watched it because my work rented out a theater on release day and paid for everyone to go and take their + 1. If they do it again for the next one, I'll see it, otherwise I probably won't. I still enjoyed the movie, it wasn't terrible.
