well my problem was that, i watched the movie and the whole finn/rose thing was so forced and cringy, at one point i literally covered my eyes to avoid the cringe  i just cant see why its there! they could have just removed it from the movie and it would have been a better movie  ! and there are a few scenes like that, this one is just the most prominent

so there were only 2 viable theories to me: that is was sjw propaganda, or that disney for some unknown reason wanted to kill off the initial cast. i mean han, luke, even ackbar! for how much it was paid, the movie was kinda unimpressive

I agree that their entire story could have been taken out, and the movie would have been a bit better, but with how big of a character fin was in Ep. 7, they needed (or they felt like they needed) to do something important with him in this movie. It felt to me like it wasn't really their focus. It seemed like the wrote the parts that mattered and pushed the story to Ep. 9 first (Luke/Snoke dying, final split, everyone joining the resistance in spirit) and they needed to fill in for more time, since movies are all 2+ hours these days. More merchandising opportunities is what that story seemed like to me, I can already see the 3D ride at Disney where you ride those animals through the town. It was also the only way for them to tie in uninvolved people to show others had force potential, to plant the seed that more Jedi/sith and more movies are coming. It's all just marketing, nothing else. Not really an agenda, it's just trying to get at your wallet lol.

Sorry for the typos on that one, I need to not write mid-size responses on my phone.

E : That being said, I still thought the movie turned out okay. I was disappointed, because I had super high expectations, but luckily for me, a few friends helped me temper those before going to the theater. It wasn't as good as any of the original 3, it was better than the 3 prequels, and I'm okay with that. It was entertaining enough, and I'm glad some people loved it, even if I'm not one of them.

well if thats the case, it might backfire on them a lot...i mean sure they added porgs (same shit as ewoks really, ewoks were even uglier), and they could have killed off the initial cast just to prolong the series and get more money. but this movie was borderline boring, what if they force the movies so much that people just stop caring about starwars and then all the stuff will sell even less  especially cause people dont really feel connected to these chars

also if i were them, i would stick to the old really well written stuff instead of trying to create new, for example if you played knights of the old republic games, those were really nice story material, so they wouldnt have to even bother creating the story and people would be a lot more hyped about watching revan and stuff! thats 3 movies easy and fast to make  !

If you are going to talk about "sjw crap", instead of focusing on the thinly veiled racist crap, why not go after a much more arguable point: The vegan concept of guilt-tripping Chewbacca into not eating an animal (the Porg he had spit-roasted). The Porgs were only there for comic relief and to sell toys. They brought nothing else to the movie. At least the Ewoks took up arms against the Imperials.

The porgs were only there because the island they filmed on had a shitton of puffins that was going to be impossible to digitally remove so they created the porg to make you think so the things in the background were porgs.

E: also you may not like it but having more alien species makes the universe feel more alive and real.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I actually liked the Porg. They're adorable. But from a story perspective, they didn't add to it.

They were added because of real world restrictions though. Not purely as a marketing gimmick.

I liked the porgs and feel like they added more to a deep universe.

At least they had no real impact on the story and didn't help the Resistance defeat the First Order...

Dude... Spoiler alert, now we know how episode 9 ends. Porgs infest V3 Death Star and bring that fucker down on the main First Order planetary base. Don't worry though, Daisy will be dancing around in a skimpy outfit to distract you :p
