Luke was the exact same as Rey in the original trilogy....

In Poe's case how is a character learning from his mistakes and developing a bad thing....using that to say the movie is bad is beyond stupid.

The original trilogy had them blow up a death star with a single missile....yeah dude using lightspeed to blow up ships is so stupid

Snoke dying was literally no different than Darth Maul, Gran Moff Tarkin, or any other random villain dying.

Maybe if the new trilogy had 2 foot tall bears defeat the first order it would have been better.....or aliens that live underwater and are borderline mentally retarded that can stumble around and accidentally destroy an entire army....yeah TLJ sure was worse than those movies

.

TLJ is the worst movie by far of the 9. It's not up for debate. The only one that's even close to it's level of shit is Attack of the clones.

One missile blew up the DS, with a purpose. They explained the weakness and we had knowledge of why, what, how.

Holdo just flew that shit right into the cruiser and it caused so many issues for SW. Why weren't people sending unmanned ships into their enemies at all times?

I digress..... Everyone knows it's a fiction space odyssey. Everyone knows a lot of shit doesn't make sense, but there was at least some borders of what the force can and cannot do before TLJ. All doors are open for RoS and we see it with the stupid force healing Rey has, for example.

Also, snoke wasn't a random villain. He was positioned as the big bad of the trilogy - Maul, Tarkin, and Dooku were not positioned to be the end villain - we knew they were lesser.

When TLJ ended, no one knew who the villain was..... It's one of the worst parts about the film.

no he wasn't. Luke couldnt use jedi mind tricks nor fight with a light saber nor evade storm troopers without training. he was trained both by Obi Wan and Yoda.

he sacrificed nearly all of the ships they had when he could have just used light speed and only lost 1 ship. it was a stupid price to pay given the movies end.

again, they lost countless fighters and ships when 1 light speed attack could have saved them. starting to see a pattern of dumb retconing?

Maul was given additional books in extended universe. and came back for Solo. Tarkin was just a general, not some "leader" of the empire.

so basically you make fun of people who just didnt like the content of TLJ, but when they say its not the content but coherency of the plot, you go on to say u hate the prequels for the content.

Exactly. Instead of coming up with a new character apart of a new story, they re-hashed exactly what they did with Luke in ANH. Person stuck on a dessert planet, dreaming of something greater, doesn’t know who parents are, stumbles across a droid with secret intel critical to a rebellion, turns out to be incredibly powerful. That’s the problem. It was exactly the same. Albeit we learn about it after the fact, however at least with Luke there’s an understand of okay, Luke’s dad was literally the chosen one, so it makes sense why he’d be so strong in the force. With Rey they pulled some shit out of their ass, with the “she’s the granddaughter of “X” to make it even somewhat believable. Besides, being related to “X” doesn’t make up for Rey, who has never been trained, ever, defeating Kylo who had been trained by Luke for like 12 years before turning to the Dark Side.

Just like how Rey is a poor mans Luke, Poe is a poor mans version of Han. Cocky, talented pilot who does things his own way, has a checkered pass, & is buddies with the main character. Besides being another copy of the OT, Poe is much less cool & likeable
as a character compared to Han.

Well, Luke did that, using the Force. However the issue is if that was always an option, the Death Star could have been handled the same way, so the main problem becomes not so big of a problem. Planet-killer-weapon ? No biggie, have a ship crash into it at light speed, problem solved.

Wrong. Neither Maul nor Tarkin were the main protagonist. Nor were they set up to be some incredibly mysterious, powerful entity before being easily killed.

Everyone has different opinions, & that’s fine. However you’re in the vast minority thinking the ST > PT. I even saw a poll recently where like 200k voted, & had RotS as their favorite SW movie.

Yeah the only thing Luke ever did was fly a Space Fighter Jet for the first time ever with no training and blow up the death star....

They had one ship big enough to do damage at lightspeed....every other ship was small.......they aren't an organized military....it is very possible that they don't have the resources to just send their only big cruisers as suicide bombers...

Tarkin was not some random General...he was the main antagonist of the first film LOL. As was Maul in Episode 1.....

I love the prequels. I am a huge Star Wars fan. I love every single movie. I am not dumb enough to think they are all good movies though. The Prequels are fucking horrible movies. The source material is why I love them. My favorite Star Wars movie is probably Return of the Jedi which is also one of the worst in the franchise. Liking or disliking something doesn't make them bad or good. Obviously you are struggling to grasp that concept.

The original trilogy is held up like it is a masterpiece....it was far from it. Lord of the Rings is a masterpiece. I like Star Wars more but I'm also not stupid enough to say it is a better trilogy.

Luke was given training in the force to be able to pilot that ship. AND he had a literal force ghost coaching him through accessing the force while he was flying. Rey? grabs light saber, beats Kylo. Finds out she's force sensitive, jedi mind tricks person. etc etc. she's clearly far more of a mary sue. and as Igo already said, Luke's talents make sense, he's the son of Vader. we all know who Rey is now, but we didn't then. its just different.

as to light speed the problem is IF they used that attack the size of teh ship doesnt matter. at all. the size of the ship only matters for how big of a hole it will tear. any matter at light speed will tear anything sitting still apart. so they could have just aimed a few x wings at the center of the death star and hit the same area Luke did with a missile, without ever having to get close to it. TLJ made it seem, poorly i might ad, that Haldo was the first person to figure this out. when in reality if it was possible any idiot would have figured it out. Yoda, Palpatine, Obi Wan, etc. all would have been smart enough to work it out. it just shouldnt exist, it makes some random commander 1-off character look smarter than thousands of years of characters. for what? so a director could feel like they added something to a legendary story at the cost of all of George's work lol.

the only redeeming moments are the battle against the Red Guards and the Kylo-Rey on screen moments via force mind bridge. Adam Driver saves this whole trilogy movie after movie. and for the record i actually like force awakens.

If I hit you with a baseball at 80 mph you'll get a bruise.

What would happen if I hit you with a car at 80 mph?

Yeah there are more holes in your logic than the movies.....

This is basic physics.

KE = 0.5 × m × v^2.

kenetic energy equals one half of an objects mass times the square of it's velocity.

so in the case of a car/baseball if both objects are going 80 mph, but a car weighs 2000 lbs and a baseball weights .25 lbs, clearly the car hits harder.

but if we're talking differing velocities, such as an X wing going 1000 miles per hour versus the speed of light, which is 186k miles per second, we're talking about an object moving 11,160x faster, which is then squared for the calculation.

basically, whether the ship is small or large doesnt matter, because light speed being 186k mps is simply too fast not to reach devastating force. the only difference is what size hole it will blow through whatever it hits.

no wonder u like the new trilogy, you dont know 9th grade physics.

They have shields that block missiles and laser beams. This is a fiction story if you didn't know. Who is to say that like 900k difference in pounds between the ships isn't the difference for the ship to be able to break that shield that is completely made up?

No wonder you don't like the new trilogy, you think Star Wars is based on true events.

its almost like in TLJ, aka that movie you like, they said that the shields refresh rate makes it so it can block anything going slower than the speed of light.

so im basing my critique of this made up world based on what the movie said.

you should watch the movies again smart guy, maybe you'll learn something this time instead of just getting aroused by space cow milking.

Show me where I said I liked TLJ.

Maybe you should rewatch the prequels and realize how stupid you look right now.

Forget the shields also. Let's assume these ships are made up of some rare space metal. Same concept. Maybe the material is strong enough to withstand an X Wing but not a ship that literally weighs 1000x that. You are nitpicking at something that literally has nothing to do with the movie itself. That's like saying how the fuck did Frodo survive laying 5 feet from lava. I guess the Return of the King is a garbage movie too.
