You have to think deeper than "what would you do" situations. Kylo is confused, unbalanced, angry. Retreating simply isn't what he coded to do as a person. There have been plenty of force users, who yes, retreated when they feel they have been bested. Kylo is young, immature, and is eager to fight those who oppose the first order.

Pretty sure Leia or Han said they sent Ben off to train with Luke when he was really young.

So that's years of experience of training with Luke, or snoke, that's years of experience regardless? cuz Kylo doesn't look like a 10yr old or anything, he looks like he's in his 20s. Unless Ur implying he just afk'd all those yrs lol

where did you get the notion that I believe he is untrained.....

You don't see how being shot by a very powerful blaster could make someone who is still basically a rookie duelist lose to someone who is good at hand to hand combat and is very strong with the force...?

Use your sports reference for an example too. If an athlete is hurt bad his performance will be hampered. Also if you are emotionally distraught I'm pretty sure a lot of your training goes out the window. They wanted to portray how the blind anger and hatred isn't stronger than the light side of the force.

I'm actually kind of amazed how people are wondering how Rey beat him lol.

And when you point out his injuries they act like being shot by a blaster that one hit kills storm troopers isn't a big deal.

If I was trained in kendo for 10 years, I would still have trouble against a rookie or amateur after being shot by a large arrow while constantly losing blood
Add the emotional imbalance and 2v1 and I'm sure I would lose too
