I went into this film with low expectations but was pleasantly surprised and loved it.

I don't like woke content being forced into movies or shows but I don't really see this as that.

The whole idea is to make her an underdog who wants to prove herself.
Having her be a female enhances that more than her being a male.

All the men are portrayed as noodle arm weebs who get mowed down by predator. Then this girl who looks like she would struggle to lift a bag of groceries beats up one of the male hunters then to proceeds to single handedly take out a predator like he was a minion. And just a day ago she was allowed to hunt with males with 0 experience. The amount of plot armor Hollywood giving her is unreal.

If they cast one of the fit females like Ronda Rousey at least it would of been believable. As it stands its up there with crouching Tiger hidden dragon movies where gravity and laws of physics don't apply. Where everyone is super saiyan and nothing makes sense it is just there because it looks cool.

um, "strong female character's" fight against "opressive patriarchy & forced gender roles" was the bigger plotline than the predator itself

I thought it was perfectly fine as a low brow action flick. There's a bit of the WIMMIN STRONG stuff but it's not that bad. More than once she's looked upon as being weak or gets her shit absolutely rocked [SPOILERS AHEAD] (punched in the face when being brought back to the camp, fell from tree and blacks out, has to run from the bear cuz she's getting pwned, predator looks at her and walks past her cuz she's not a threat - I think that covers most of them). And honestly in the end? It's not raw strength that brings down the Predator, it's cunning. I didnt turn it on to be wowed by much of anything but the acting is decent enough and the dialogue isnt horrible and the premise is pretty cool. I'd recommend it to anyone that wanted to just watch a recent+decent action flick.
