While I'm not at all a tyler perry fan, the waynes put together a few good productuons. Their tv show was a staple on BET, dont be a menace and scary movie started a trend of movie mash ups that lasted over a decade. Even though that trend is comparable to the plague in cinema history, dont be a menace and scary movie (the original) were actually good. Also, in lovong color.
How old were you when you watched those films? Have you watched them recently and have you ever watched them sober? They're fucking horrendous. The Wayans are exponentially better than Perry, but they're still awful. All of these dogshit movies make decent money and are praised by the same kind of people that think movies out of the Transformers and Fast & the Furious franchises are masterpieces. I also liked Scary Movie and Don't be a Menace when I first saw them, when I was like 10 lol. I thought they were fucking hilarious, but they're awful.
I loved In Living Color, but it was second tier to SNL imo. Much much better than Mad TV though and I enjoyed watching it as much as I could as a kid. This was a conversation about movies though and I'm not going to credit them for an amazing TV show they did when the discussion was film.
Ya, I'm white, but being Black doesn't mean you HAVE to like bad movies because it's got an all or mostly black cast... That type of logic is straight racist.
