Yeah i really feel like they did that wrong tbh.

Robby should've been training with his father and miguel should've been with danny.

Like everything Miguel does is just so far off base and character for him.

Also think so

Interesting that Jonny kind of takes the role of Miyagi
A handyman who rescues a bullied kid and trains him to win the tournament

However the conduct of Miguel and Robby proves Miyagi's words true
"No such thing as bad student only bad teacher. Teacher say, student do"

the way they did it is pretty darn good
the way you suggest would have been interesting also but i think with the build they did its simply perfect
i HOPE the season 2 lives up to the season 1 and it dosent become like the karate kid trilogy
and i want kreese to be like he was in the original movie

Idk man it just doesnt make sense. You got this nice hispanic kid thats standing up to bullies even though he gets his ass beat and by the end of the season he is the bully.

Then you have this criminal kid who is all sorts of fucked up and he turns out to be a goody two shoes.

Seems like they tried way too hard to fit the narrative of bad teacher vs good teacher.

Yes that was the goal to flip the scripts which shows the influence of a teacher on a student. Slowly Turn the kid getting bullied into a bully and the bad kid into a good one to me i prefer this way the other possibility you suggest would have been interesting also but too similar to the first karate kid (people would have complained that its not original like many other reboots and there would be less interest arround the serie)

so basically you just wanna rewatch the remake of the karate kid, jk

i think they did it pretty damn good, it's interesting to see how miguel who was similar to daniel develop into a bully because of the "sensei" & cobra kai.
