Basically what I like to do is: Go through the reviews that are generally negative towards movie and pick out any good things they may say. If I start to notice the same positive comments popping up across different sources, I count that feedback as generally reliable.
One example of this: Most of the reviews for Warcraft basically said "zzz cgi fantasy garbage". However, even many naysayers admitted that the way the spells were cgi'd into the environment actually felt more natural than previous fantasy movies had managed to pull off. So despite the movie being bad overall, it does deserve credit for doing one thing really well.
Any movie that I am bothering to look up is bound to have both good and bad things about it. If a review doesn't include some of both, then I don't put much value on it.
