Well being Sony the company, if I was actually interested in making money I'd make a proper Fianl Fanstasy movie. Not something like Spirits Within, but one that truly captures the essence of FF games, with chocobos, crystals, mages, summoners, tonberries, marlboros and an engineer named Cid.

Victor Lustig, the man who sold the Eiffel Tower twice

Still suprised there is no movie yet about him. Very interesting true story from last century.

Agreed, but they remake shit all the time and it's been 10 years since ST. I think there is a way a SC movie could be viable.

Take Warcraft for example. As bad as the movie was overall (and it was bad), one of the redeeming qualities was the fact that it really showed a lot from the point of the view of Orcish culture. A SC movie could go light on the Terran characters and feature a lot of Protoss. That would really differentiate it from ST.

The reason a StarCraft movie wouldn't work imo is because the story is extremely dependant on the point of view of all 3 races.

I mean yeah sure you could do it purely based on Terran and sprinkle in some protoss with zerg as the bad mindless destructive creatures. But that isn't really StarCraft anymore, it's 'random movie x' using the StarCraft name.

Starship troopers was good because they basically constantly talked about how they have no idea what the bugs want, they are just trying to kill them. And the satirical look at the war centric culture is a pretty close comparison to StarCraft Terran.

Basically there is too much in StarCraft for a movie to work. You would be doing a great disservice if you just put zerg in just as the terrible swarm.

Let's say the zerg started that way and the audience was introduced to Kerrigan. Then when she wakes up zergified we start seeing things from inside the zerg POV for the first time. That would feel like a meaningful shift to the audience.

A shift that most movie goers would probably condemn as terrible and stupid. Personally I think the zerg story is far more interesting than the toss/terran story but I don't see any way to actually tell it just because of all the complicated backstory involved. You would have to set up the entire thing in an opening monologue talking about how the zerg were modified into essentially a slave species and such, but then that would kind of ruin the entire Kerrigan figuring that out and finding out why she was created.
