no, Rogue One Was

All I remember is sitting in the theater near the end of the movie thinking to myself "wow, I don't know any of these characters names". Then it ended and it didn't matter anyway.

They were both pretty bad.

Rouge One had two of the most cringe worthy scenes I've seen in movies that were considered great. Whitaker was just fucking awful, and the scene with Vader made me facepalm. All the main characters were unlikable and forgettable. I called it in the first 5 minutes of the movie that they'd all die and then I was upset that I didn't even care about them dying. They didn't do anything to make us feel anything for them.

We all know what TFA was.... member star wars? member droids? member jedis?

I thought Rogue One was at least better than 1,2,7.

These are 100x better than the prequels so I can't really complain.

This actually echoes my feelings as well. The prequels lowered my expectations so much. Now just to have a movie that isn't a constant fringefest feels like a success. I'd probably be satisfied with just 2 hours of "routine life" on a Star Destroyer, i.e. mechanics arguing about which part they need to fix generator

You called everyone dying during the movie? Pretty sure everyone knew that all the characters were going to die the second the movie was announced. Ya know considering you were told that in episode 4.
