Why does everyone always have to bring up the Illusionist when talking about the Prestige or vice versa. Is it just because they came out so closely together? The Prestige was by far the better movie, but the Illusionist was also fantastic. Everything about the Illusionist was above average, the Prestige just had that gritty/dark Nolan feel to it, and that's generally going to be preferred for twist movies.

'The Illusionist' is to 'The Prestige' as "Deep Impact' is to 'Armageddon' or what 'Gordy' is to 'Babe'

Similar plots, that came out around the same time, where one is genuinely agreed upon as the better movie

I didn't like the Illussionist at all. It just falls flat in every aspect if you compare it to Prestige.
Don't know, maybe I have to give it another shot.

Its hard to appreciate the illusionist after seeing the prestige

But there is still great stuff in the illusionsist. Its been forever since ive seen it

But ed norton alone is worth the price of admission
Biel is a bonafide babe
Isnt giamatti in it?
And that other dude, thr antogonist

Its all good. Just not nearly as good as the prestige imo

Nolan >

This is why he's my favorite director. Everything he does is fucking gold.

Agreed. Best director of all time IMO.

Interstellar (Nolan) is my favourite movie ever made.

The Dark Knight (Nolan) gets a close second.

Inception (Nolan) is definitely in my personal top 5. Or maybe even top 3. Can't decide which I like more out of that and The Wolf of Wall Street

The Prestige (Nolan) goes somwhere in the top 10.

Pretty fucking an amazing statistic lol. Batman Begins and TDK:R are nowhere near the top of my list, but both absolutely excellent movies... Memento too.

Something tells me Dunkirk will be one of my favourites !! (I'm a huge WWII fan, and I think it's pretty obvious I like Nolan films)

what does wolf of wall street have to do with nolan?

i love nolan as much as the next guy. very high on him

but i still think theres probably a handful of directors id consider to have greater careers thus far. as nolan hasnt been doing this as long as the likes of scorcese or ridley scott

im verrrrry excited for dunkirk too

nolan working with cillian for like the 5th time. and hardy for 3rd

im 100% more agreeable with that notion than the more popular opinion of quentin tarantino being the goat director

i dont hate qt either

true romance is unbelievable... even if he only wrote it
