If you haven't seen "The Last Castle" with James Gandolfini and Robert Redford, I'd recommend that. Solid flick.

Also, it's a very small part of the movie, but "The Raid 2: Redemption" has an amazing prison yard scene. Seriously. The Raid and Raid 2 both have incredible action sequences. Recommending those slightly off-topic :P.

There are also the series of movies:

Prisoner... Prisoner 1 and Prisoner 2

They are basically movies that are similar to the Rocky series... but... if I recollect, they wer produced around the same time, if not earlier. Mr T does appear in one of the Prisoner series.

Forgot to mention [basically not a movie] ... there was an Aussie TV series called "The Prisoner" old series, had "Queen Bee" etc... womans prison.

Good flick. Parts of it are a bit Hollywood, but definitely worth the watch. One of my favorite movie villains of all time.

Dog Pound is worth the watch. Definitely leaves you depressed afterwards. It's about 3 boys who go into juvenile detention. One of the more unique prison movies out there as it looks into prison life for 13~17 year olds, rather than adults.
