I would agree that it is top in terms of money and player amount.
But when you break it down to the actual game itself (content, mechanics), everything after Vanilla+1st expansion is complete and total garbage.

why do you claim this? I would really like to know.

I misunderstood what you meant by player base. I thought the term wow killer was obvious so im not sure why you brought it back up.

I've tired myself out of gaming. I've played mmos for so long, and unsubscribed from FF14 this month. I always seem to play BF3 and WC3. I have like 5 games for PS4.

I had interest in Black Desert, but I don't think i'll pick it up.

I'm praying phantasy star online 2 comes to the U.S

And i'm hoping Lost Ark turns out as good as it looks.

I think the MMO market is pretty bad right now for veteran players of the genre.
But really good for newer players who don't already have 10k hours.

I honestly don't think it's "bad." I really do believe we have just tired ourselves from the genre.

That's what I'm saying. The genre hasn't offered anything BRAND new in a long time that is interesting enough to keep you playing.
It's mostly capped out.

Everything since then has been brainless easy.
There have been very few interesting and long lasting features.

I disagree, but we will just leave that there.

Should have tried Wildstar when it came out.
Hardest PvE I've seen in an MMO.

Like 1% or less of the player base was even good enough to get to raiding, let alone beat the raids.

Needed actual dodging, control of your character, reaction speed, coordination.
It wasn't "the boss is going to hit here so everyone move here and continue dpsing" like WoW.

To go along with what you're saying....

My brother and i created the foundation for a game for fun on breaks at work.

One of my ideas for harder, more involved and interesting content was.....

To have randomized boss content. Boss fights should have unique abilities to that particular boss, but also have the ability to initial sequences or attacks at any given time during any point of the encounter. Make EVERY boss encounter be completely unique offering randomized attacks (that would obviously makes sense for the boss)

This would eliminate watching youtube videos before every fight and knowing everything about a specific fight before you actually get into it.

Trash mobs is another thing....give them more attacks, even monsters in early leveling areas. Make every encounter more interesting.

Guild Wars 2's item system let them have bosses like that. You could pick up items with customized abilities.
Wildstar had a cooldown system on bosses. The bosses would randomly use any of their ability sequences but not in a row because of its cooldown.

I played GW2 for like a year, but it didn't stick for me.

Knowing what the boss will do at any given moment is a horrible mechanic.

We want a game similar to War of the North but with MMO aspects. War of the North isn't a good game by any means, but there companies literally aren't producing any good couch co op games.

I don't know of War of the North.
But yeah, companies have completely stopped making couch coop.

If you're looking just for something to play try "Fat Princess Adventures"

It's basically just a couch coop fun game.
