You're still missing my very specific point......

You don't need to explain movie filtering to me.

if you understand movie filtering then I shouldn't have to explain why i'm sceptical to remakes one a large scale when a very large percentage of them are trash, you talk to me like i'm ignorant for not being open minded about this type of thing but if you truly understand the point im making then you wouldn't be doing this.

I understand your point but I don't think it's a good one, you're positive about the phenomena for a bunch of reasons that sound good in theory but almost never occur,
One point you made which is kind of good is that a remake might spark interest in the original. This is positive indeed but it dosen't speak for the quality of the remake and it's still no reason for me or anyone able to absorb cinema from all eras to watch the remake when you could just jump straight to the original instead.

There are of course examples of great remakes such as Herzhogs Nosferatu (not as good as the '22 film but definitly worthwhile) and Kurosawas version of the lowlands however these are mostly older films, the current trend in Hollywood is to deliberately make a bad film to cash out on good script, noone is even trying because it's gonna sell anyway that's why i'm currently sceptical to the entire thing.

When major studios stop treating the concept of remakes this way i'll start taking it serious again.

I'm not necessarily disagreeing with anything you're saying, I'm just more open to movie renditions and don't get butt hurt if a movie is poorly made. It just doesn't bother me and I don't take offense of it. I move on and don't dwell because the production is nothing I can control.

this really isn't true, the problem lies with the studios they are all hoping to create the next star wars phenomena where a couple of movies or a trilogy becomes so successfull that you can sell merch and make spinoffs / sequels for 40 years.

That's the real issue and it's been going on since the 70's, I love the original SW trilogy but it killed mainstream cinema.

i don't get what you are trying to say

a remake has no chance to create the next phenomena since it is, by definition, already known to people. The fact that it is known is the whole selling point,

And example is the original hulk movie. The consensus was that it sucked horribly, a remake was made, and the consensus was that the remake was much better.

Dragon Ball

I've seen none of these. (I did see the EWW's about them though).

I'd probably argue that you guys want this IP to be used to create a new and better movie. Not remake the ones that came before.
Or are you saying that you'd want those movies recreated (plot, characters, ...) but just with better technology?

A remake can be done in any form given the directors vison. Like a cover song, it doesn't and shouldn't be a carbon copy of the original.

Of course a modern day remake would make us of modern day technology.

Dredd (2012) was much better than Stallone's Judge Dredd.

I think that it is logical to remake a movie after some time has passed because technology has changed so much.

For example: I disliked the changes Lucas made to the Star Wars special editions, but it makes sense that he would want to create what he originally envisioned with all the new technology available to him.

One franchise that needs to be remade is Back to the Future. A kid watching the movie now wouldn't be able to relate because the 'future' in the movie was the year 2015. Update the times and re-imagine a new future 2045 for the next generation so they can experience what we did.
