That's not what I said but if someone with confirmed vastly different taste than you recommend something then why the fuck would you watch it?
Sure there's a 1% chance of it actually being good but I usually don't do things that 99 times out of 100 is gunna be a complete waste of time.

I'm sure you're talking about an extremely specific situation. I imagine that it's very rare to find situations where two people find they have such drastic differences in taste when it comes to mainstream movies, so much so that there's a 1% chance one person will actually like the same movie as his friend with different taste.

Enjoyment in any form of art is personal, and another person's opinions can go fuck themselves regardless of how many times tastes have differed before.

Simply not seeing a movie because "my friend liked it, but I hate movies he likes" is cunt-like stupidity.

It's not, I come across situations like that literally every day of my working life.

Sure but estimating what one will like and what one will not based on opinions on previously watched films is very doable and surprisingly precise, there are websites built around it.

sure it's not 100% accurate but it does a very good job.

It's not, I didn't even watch films at all before I discovered the tools that allow me to filter out shit. If I followed your advice I would watch at most 1 film a month.

Seems quite snobby if you don't mind me saying but fair enough, each to their own man.

The point is, if you find something that you want to watch based on your own interests, there shouldn't be anyone or anything that would stop you from watching it.

I liked how it was realistic. the char that matt damon played, irl people would totally do shit like that.
now I don't know if the science behind it was correct or not, but the plot was fun.
