My review, some spoilers
Movie felt very rushed, left so much unexplained. Also there were a few scenes, even for a movie based on a fantasy series, that were incredibly unrealistic. Legolas walking on falling stones, the 1 dwarf killing orcs by headbutt, bilbo taking out orcs by throwing rocks. Did we ever even see the 2nd orc army that was approaching, now that I think about it, I cannot recall. If we did, the fact that it left no memory of itself tells me it could have been done better.
Overall, disappointed.
5/10.
I agree with most of what you're saying. I hated the same part where legalas walks on the falling stones. The fight scene as a whole was good. Yet, then again, in LOTR Legolas can be seen doing pretty amazing things.
The drawf wasn't necessarily killing the orcs with the headbutts. I think it was comical, I liked it.
The rocks were dumb.
The second army was taken out by the eagles/bear.

People are judging this pretty harshly.
I can't wait to see the reviews of the new star wars. Everyone is gonna say "this or that one was better, new one is shit".
I liked the hobbit movies. They're all a strong 7/10 for me because they brought exactly the kind of entertainment I was expecting when I walked into the theater. No more, no less.
I'm a big fan of both the hobbit and LOTR movies and I usually judge movies pretty lightly.
The hobbit movies are not strong. I like them, I love them, but they are not strong. They are NOTHING like LOTR.
When the battle of five armies comes out on blu ray, the only way to watch this series is all in one day. The movies are too rushed as a stand alone.
LOTR was finely crafted. There is no comparison.
