both were good. I'd say edge of tomorrow is better as a standalone. If you've watched the previous xmen movies or are an avid fan of xmen or marvel, then go ahead and watch it. Otherwise, i'd say edge of tomorrow would be the better watch. I went in expecting a good plot and a washed up Tom Cruise, but was in for a surprise.

X:Men was great, going to watch Edge of Tomorrow on Tuesday so can't say which is better yet.
I really liked X-Men First Class, and I thought Days of Future Past was better than it.
