The Thing
Oceans Eleven
The Fly
King Kong
3:10 to Yuma
13 Assassins
The Departed
etc

Better than originals

The thing remake was fucking terrible
Haven't seen the fly
King Kong remake and original were both very good, but I wouldn't call the remake better
Haven't seen 3:10 original
Haven't seen 13 Assassins original
Haven't seen departed original

Although I don't think remaking a foreign movie 2-10 years later is the argument here so some of those on the list(departed) don't really apply.

I've been waiting on the remake for years and now it's finally here! :)

the only thing that worries me is that it's rated pg-13..

robocop better not have gone soft on me now!

I want to watch it because it will have better action scenes, but that is about it.
If they have a good enough actor that can pull off the concept behind the original story line, then it maybe decent.

They could do something different like they did with Dredd... they put in a different storyline. OR, maybe
like Total Recall... now they actually kept with the same storyline, but, they changed some minor things... instead of Mars,
they were travelling through the centre of the Earth, instead of the big woman as the disguise, it was the African American,
instead of the sweat from the brow of the man, it was the tears of the woman that made him realise that it was real, and not being
in a Recall machine.

EDIT: someone posted other remakes:

King Kong... Oringinal was outstanding for its' time... New one was great also... basically... I still preferred original.
The Fly... Original was outstanding over the new one... basically, there was no room in new one where they killed the other
side of the fly.... he was caught in the web and the spider finished him off, half human, half fly.... "help me... help me... helm meeeee" (screaming in tiny form where no-one could here him)

As for the rest... not my taste of movies... so won't quote on them.
