too late to edit my previous post, but i also didnt say the movie was bad. i just said i disliked it for the mentioned reason. and yes there is a difference before anyone asks. for example i felt code geass was objectively poorly done but i enjoyed it, vs Monster was objectively good but too slow so i disliked it.

3) what's the hobbit doing with the ring? i assume this was part of the previous movie. i remember from LOTR frodo got the ring from someone and destroyed it

4) the "romance" between she-elf and dwarf felt really forced and quick. i assume it's a longer arc in the book?

5) what's the deal with the dragon? if he could escape and kill the town, why didn't he do it sooner? was he too lazy?

6) shortly after main-dwarf enters the treasure house, everyone gives up on the white jewel he's after. what the heck? i thought the whole point was to get the jewel

7) i thought elves were allies of gandalf? i remember lego fighting along with gandalf in LOTR. so why are they attacking the dwarves?

8) isn't gandalf supposed to be strong? why does he seem so weak?


I think you should withhold judgement until you at least watch the previous hobbit. It would explain a lot

1) Because the danger of sauron coming back is greater than the dwarf quest and Erebor so as a middle earth protector he have to leave the dwarf do their thing and he must go
2)Hes the burglar, since smaug already knows dwarf scent, and hobbit have the ability of being incredibly stealthy
3)First hobbit ring holder was bilbo, he stole from gollum, its all in the Hobbit 1
4) i cant answer this one
5) Dragon are incredibly greedy creatures, he was sitting on his fortune, he wants to stay there, he isnt trapped. he went out on the town as a revenge for the dwarfs trying to kill him
6) Not sure i get this one, bilbo have the white gem ( arkenstone ) on him, then they have to fight a dragon
7) LOTR takes place AFTER the hobbit. Correct me if im wrong but hobbit is during the ''second'' age and LOTR is the ''third''

Nope Bilbo was the third Hobbit to have the ring. The first was Déagol, he found the ring in the river and had it for a very short period. The second was Sméagol, he killed Déagol and took the ring, which warped him into Gollum. Then Bilbo took it from Gollum. Third.
