Here's my working theory on who is Red John.

Pay attention to casting. Actors tend to get cast into similar roles. It doesn't always work, but it works a lot.

We have 3 suspects left.

Sherriff McAllister is played by Xander Berkeley. Berkeley had a role on the spy thriller "Nikita" as Percy, a bad guy right out of the box who was completely ruthless. He also played George Mason on 24 who was a straight up good guy.
Reede Smith is played by Drew Powell. Powell played a low level enforcer type in the thriller "Straw Dogs".
Gale Bertram is played by Michael Gaston. Gaston played a character named Quinn on "Prison Break" where he was at first a good guy and mild mannered but later on revealed to be a ruthless genius evil mastermind.

So let's pretend I am a casting director for the Mentalist and I'm tasked with hiring an actor who needs to be able to convincingly play Red John. I'm going to want to see a resume where they played a similar character in the past. Between these three actors, only Michael Gaston has that on his resume.

So my theory is, based on casting, Gale Bertram is Red John.

Stiles basically confirmed that none of those 3 are red john in this last episode. None of the men jane brought to that house where red john.

yea someone other t han these guys is RJ, i still have a itchy feeling its Patridge.
Who knows maybe they even make a story like Patridge getting killed by his own followers because of his attachment to Patrick. We already know RJ wont kill Patrick because he respects him.

Am I missing something? How did Stiles confirm that? All we saw was Stiles and Haffner did not have tattoos?

Throughout the series stiles has always alluded to him knowing who red john is. Like the time he told jane the he knew more than him or red john could ever imagine. Go back and watch his reaction when jane says "one of you in this room is red john". Stiles knows jane is playing a game. He knows red john is not in the room because he knows who red john is and he knows that jane does not actually suspect any of them to be red john it is all a game. This is why he finds it both "amusing" and "interesting".

Stiles is a con man. If a con man told you or inferred that he knew who Red john was, would you really trust him? Sounds more like a con man doing what they always do, making themselves seem more important than they are.

It is not a con. That episode that was all about the farm and the first red john smiley told us red john has connections to visualize in some way. Furthermore the person who drew on lisbons face in blood put vertical lines over her eyes just like stiles did in that crazy ass ceremony where he poured that blood looking stuff on the naked chick. Stiles is not bullshitting he knows who red john is.

Just watched this episode. Cant believe the boss is such a cold blooded killer. I always taught he was semi-innocent.

He is not red john though i dont think. The sheriff is my main guy at the moment. Dude was standing right between the other two tyger tyger guys and somehow he was killed and his body was all burnt to hell and back while the other two received no real injuries? Seems suspicious yo.
