That comment is curious considering the actress just won the Emmy for her performance two days ago.
As for the character, however, her status as a shit stain was actually quite essential to the story.
Her winning an Emmy means nothing to me... I have no respect for most awards given. This is America after all where everyone gets a trophy. Maybe she just got a participation award so she felt less shitty.
I will stick with my statement that the wife could have been much better written or had a better actress... This one did an annoyingly bad job.

I happen to consider Skylar one of my favourite characters, especially for those times she didn't take Walter's shit and completely rejected what he is. Lesser women would have swooned over the money he earned and submitted to the criminal part, but not only did she completely reject it, but she took the role of the "bad guy" in the eyes of everyone because she couldn't turn him in. Throughout the whole show, Walter was so gung-ho about "protecting the family", and all he really did was throw them into a shitstorm; she's truly the one who has been protecting the family. (One of my favourite lines is "someone has to protect the family from the man who protects the family.")
Yes, Skyler has a lot of haters, but that's generally from the single-minded fans who don't really understand that Walter is a terrible person, and basically hate her for bringing him down. But all her inhibitions are completely correct. (Like, for example, when the Super Cartel Brothers were in his house waiting for him to get out of the shower, if Skyler and the kids were there the Cartel Bros would have killed them without hesitation. During that time Skyler was arguing that Walt was going to put the family in danger, and Walter was completely dismissing that notion.)
The phone call at the end of "Ozymandias" - as anyone who paid attention would know - was meant as Walter exonerating Skyler from any illegal implications. However, it was also meant to troll the pro-Walt anti-Skyler audience because he basically mimicked all the shit they've been saying about her. And it's funny, because I saw a massive list of twitter posts by idiotic anti-Skyler fans who completely missed the point and said stupid shit like "yeah, you tell her Walt! Way to call her a bitch!"
(But seriously... how can anyone really be pro-Walt at this point in the show?)
I stopped reading after "I happen to consider Skylar one of my favourite characters".
Just stop please... No one wants to read this garbage essay.
