Let's keep it brief:

Woody Allen, Stanley Kubrick and and then Kurosawa or Hitchcock.

I like a lot of directors on these lists here, some of my favorites that are still making films are David Fincher, James Gray, Paul Thomas Anderson, Derek Cianfrances, etc.

Oh fuck I forgot Scorsese...well, he's been releasing crap lately so there's that.

I think just about everybody agrees with the bold, haha.

I'm not really "new" to Hitchcock, but I am new to understanding his magnificence. His attention to detail, and talent for suspense are sadly missing in hollywood today.

I honestly feel Woody is highly over rated.

Takashi Miike (yes, he has made crap, but he's also made some of my favorite movies)
Gaspard Noé
Kitano Takeshi
Michael Haneke


I really really wanna add Mathieu Kassovitz, but he's only made crap except La Haine (which is fucking gawdly).
