Book 1 isn't necessary if you've seen the TV show imo. I'd start at book 2, thats where the changes are very noticeable.

Season 1 = Book 1
Season 2 = Book 2
Seasons 3 & 4 = Book 3
Pretty sure I read they're splitting Book 4 into seasons 5 & 6 too.

As a person that has head all 5 books and watched both seasons twice, i would say reading the books is worth it for sure! If you were to start reading the books and have already seen the first 2 seasons of the show i MIGHT skip book 1 becuase it follows almost EXACTLY with the show, however, book 2 and season 2 have some decent changes, so its worth reading... and whoever said the books ruined the show for them is an idiot... if anything reading the books makes me want to see the show that much more... also book 4 kinda blows compared to the rest... but 5 comes back with a BANG! and 3 is sick also!

I doub they will be splitting book for into 2 seasons. Simply because book 4 veers away from the "main" characters and focuses solely on characters and happening in the south. IMO it was the slowest book

yeah i just said that... i bet they run book 4 and 5 at the same time... otherwise they would lose people who did not read the books... like 3 seasons for books 4 and 5, because 5 is long...

Book 3 isn't gonna just be 2 full seasons. Season 2 already nipped at the beginning of Book 3. Season 3 will move us through most of Book 3. Season 4 will finish off Book 3 and get well into the Book 4/Book 5 stories.



exactly. Those 2 have to be done simultaneously. After Season 4 gets a jump on those stories, it will probably take Season 5+6 to finish them off. That will mean they have to start producing Season 7 in 2016. Hopefully the book for that will be ready in time for them to start preparing.

I dont think they will do a spin off, and GRRM said that he told the producers of the show the main plot twists that are going to finish out the series so even if he does die the show will go where he envisioned the books to go... So i think worst case senario we wait a few seasons to see how the stories end, i dont think(hope) that GRRM will die before he finishes tho, he has it in him!

I really hope he finishes them. And sooner rather than later too haha.
Apparently he's been working on the winds of winter so who knows when we will see it's release
