I believe it was said that First Class was not a direct prequel to the X-Men series. Meaning, First Class does not have to match with the Trilogy.

The director said that it has mentions to the original but is mostly a reboot. So yeah it doesn't have to match up.

Again I think they should have left well enough alone but I liked first class. It was kinda silly at times but that guy who played Leto II in the children of dune miniseries did a pretty good job I thought. Michael Fassbender was pretty good too.

The wolverine one was stupid I thought.
