the thing (the original one) was cute ^^

when i was like 6y old or something, i watched 'a nightmare on elm street' and was very scared of going to bed for some time. My sister was 2y older than me and had some pretty heavy nightmares for some time :P

Almost any scary movie before 2000. After 2000 they just got insanely horrible.

4 Movies destroyed my childhood sleep habits :( I must add - These movies left me jaded. From 10-26 not a single movie was able to scare me in the least.

1 Child's play - I was young, that's my only excuse. Maybe 5-6

2 Exorcist - Specifically when Regan is sitting in the bed facing away from the door and her mother walks in you get that infamous scene where her heard spins all the way around...

3 It - Rip on me all you want.. I didn't like clowns. I never made it past the part where the kid gets killed from the sewer until I was much older. 2 things happened to change my mind about that movie.. first I realized that the clown was tim curry who played in one of my favorite childhood movies "Clue", second I finished it.. If you've seen both parts you know why that movie is a joke. Had I known ANY of that the movie would have never scared me.

4 Pet Sematary - Had a few jump scares that I couldn't get over.

For me it was the Sixth Sense, since I watched it when I was 6 and it still haunts my dreams

I watched the shining alone. In the dark. I didn't sleep the rest of the night.

Audition and the hypnotist are scary as fuck if you don't mind subtitles. Especially audition since it's something that could happen.

The first alien is also up there. Rape allegories all over the fucking place.

The first Nightmare on Elm Street was really good, and the Pumpkin head series had me scared shitless as a child. It is also pretty good, especially if you are scared of clowns(but you dont need an initial fear). The Shinning was a good movie but I wouldn't really call it a horror/scarey movie..

I keep seeing The Shining as being their scariest movie. I never really got the feeling of being scared from the movie; although it was a fucking masterpiece.
