In the context of film, your use of the word 'powerful' is really no different from 'entertainment'. A movie being artful or conveying a message can be entertaining, just as movies containing big explosions can be powerful.
If a movie is not entertaining it cannot be powerful, it is just a bad movie.
I disagree.
"Powerful" means emotionally moving. Entertainment doesn't have to be, and usually isn't.
"Entertainment" usually implies light hearted fun whereas "powerful" is deeper and emotional. You can't really do both at the same time. You can have movies which encompasses both at different moments, but both cannot really happen in tandem.
Lord of the Rings for example is entertaining at points and powerfully emotional at others.
Most Michael Bay movies are just brain-dead entertainment with explosions n shit.
All quiet on the western front isn't entertaining but it is really good and emotionally moving ("powerful").
That's how I see it anyways.
